The BRAINS clinic at St. Joe's is providing a tremendous opportunity to students with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their families. So many of these students have a difficult time transitioning back into school and need the support from their medical team and educators to ensure educational success. This clinic helps to bridge the gap between physicians and schools by providing educational information and support to parents , students, and teachers as needed. We will also pilot an internship program this fall for special education students at ASU to provide them with a community-based experience at the clinic working with families, students, educators, and physicians.

If you have any questions, please contact me:

Rosemary, we are delighted to be a part of your success and to host such oustanding students. In fact, we look forward to the day we can provide resources for even more students and, of course, their parents and families. Keep up the good work. You are making a difference! Steve Des Georges, ASU at the West campus

The Masters in Social Justice and Human Rights at ASU's West campus has, in a very short time, attracted some of the top students in the world to pursue a degree in this area. The degree program, under the direction of Bill Simmons, is active throughout the year and stages a number of socially important events. For more information on the program, visit http://newcollege.asu.edu/programs/social_justice/.

I think that this is wonderful way to raise awareness for a problem that exists not only in the world, but is in our backyard. People need to understand that human trafficking is different that smuggling, and that those individuals that are trafficked are really modern day slaves. There needs to be an end to this type of human abuse and by raising awareness, hopefully these abuses can be ended forever.

ASU Free the Slaves is a very active group who is highly committed and dedicated to what they do. I have worked with them and they are very professional individuals who have a passion for what they do. I certainly believe that this new project will be successful.

I encourage students, people, everyone to be part of ASU Free the Slaves since this is a highly professional organization who is very involved in the community. The experience will be quite rewarding.

I can't believe it is almost here - we have been planning for quite some time and more recently with great intensity to make this experience an unforgettable one! 150 students will be on ASU's West Campus to kick start their return to AGUILA or, for new students, their entry into AGUILA.

AGUILA Youth Leadership Institute is a year-round college access/prep program designed to educate, elevate and motivate Latino students to aspire to the college experience leading to a degree. AGUILA recruits students beginning in the 10th grade to begin a comprehensive and holistic approach to college preparation that continues to high school graduation, undergrad and graduate school. Next year, 9th graders will begin to transtiion into the program with the vision of ultimately starting at the 7th grade.

AGUILA builds a web of support by collaborating with other agencies to provide resourcs to students and their families as well as partnering with insitutions across the country to provide students with information, resources and choices. AGUILA students enjoy the support from their friends, family and their extended familia in AGUILA - a true village that has had proven success in bringing community together with the goal of developing leaders who are educated both in mind, body and spirit.

The Symposium plays a critical role in helping the students to bond together and to experience personal and community success. We utilize this event as a foundation on which to build each student's success but also to create new vision for the families that we serve. This year will include another first in the Parent University Series which will include a tour, student/parent/staff panel and more.

Students will particiapte in various sessions and interactive workshops that will help them to connect the dots in creating their college journey. Sample college courses provided by University Professors will help to provide a real view of what to expect in college.

AGUILA prides itself in developing the kind of leadership that will embrace Cesar Chavez's philosophy of service to others - one where personal success includes community participation. Together - we can change the world - SI SE PUEDE - YES WE CAN - YES WE ARE!!!

Steve, what a touching story. It inspired me and I know it will impact the lives of so many people. My brother-in-law fought in Iraq and he came back a different person. I sent him Clint's book. My dad was a Vietnam Vet and suffered so much after the war. He couldn't shake the nightmares, just couldn't. So thank you for bringing Clint's story to us -- and I wish you well. I encourage all Americans to read this book!
