About

student-at-fletcherThe West campus Connect is a blog produced by the staff of the public affairs office at ASU’s West campus.  As it grows and matures you will find interesting news from the campus’ two colleges — New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (New College) and College of Teacher Education and Leadership (CTEL) — as well as commentaries from faculty and students, event information and more.

The West campus was created by state legislature in 1984 and today serves nearly 10,000 students.  The campus is set on 300 acres in the heart of northwest Phoenix (the campus was designated a “Phoenix Point of Pride” in 2008), the centerpiece of a burgeoning region representing a new frontier of commerce, sports, recreation, arts and lifelong learning opportunities.

Balancing the traditions of a liberal arts education with responsiveness to the demands and dynamics of work force requirements, the West campus boasts programs of academic excellence that have been vastly enhanced in the last few years.  New College is led by a world-class academic dean who has both an outstanding academic record and a first-class academic leadership record.  CTEL, also led by a world-class dean and headquartered at the West campus, has taken the responsibility for training teachers on all four ASU campuses.  One of the nation’s leading schools of business, the W.P. Carey School, is now offering programs at the West campus.
